The Ricochet Center
Give the opportunity to bounce back in the West Island
Since 2020
The Ricochet Center is the first, and only till this day, shelter for people experiencing residential instability and homelessness on the West Island of Montreal.
722 different people
have been welcomed at the Ricochet Center since it opened (December 2020 to October 2024).
Welcome to the Ricochet Center
Ricochet Center offers a welcoming and caring shelter, providing 48 beneficiaries (18+) with a safe and stable place to stay, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Here, each person has a 30-day period to rest, recharge and take important steps to rebound. After a stay, a 10-day break is necessary before a possible return, a model designed to encourage social reintegration and avoid dependency on our resource.
Comprehensive support tailored to each individual
At Ricochet Center, beneficiaries have access to three nutritious meals a day, snacks, and above all, a wide range of psychosocial support services. Our dedicated team is there to support each individual in their efforts to find housing, access healthcare or undertake legal or administrative procedures. We also support beneficiaries in finding employment, obtaining identity papers, accessing RAMQ and much more.
A place to progress at your own pace
We firmly believe in allowing everyone to progress at their own pace and according to their needs. Ricochet Center is a place where people in precarious situations can refocus, regain their autonomy and build a more serene, stable future.
An inclusive place
At Ricochet Center, we offer much more than just a roof over your head. We are committed to creating a warm and respectful environment, where diversity and inclusion are core values.
Welcoming single individuals, women, veterans, couples, pets, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community, as well as people from diverse cultures, including First Nations, Ricochet ensures that everyone finds a respectful and dignified welcome.
This inclusive approach is based on principles of intersectionality and incorporates gender-based analysis (GBA+) to address the specific needs of each person, including those facing complex issues such as substance abuse, psychological trauma or gender-based violence.
The Ricochet Center offers an adapted and fully accessible infrastructure, free of stairs, to accommodate individuals experiencing homelessness with reduced mobility. However, they must be able to meet their needs independently.
By also raising awareness in the community, Ricochet actively contributes to promoting a supportive and safe environment for all, where everyone aged 18 and over can find a space to rebuild and move forward.
